Question Info.Solved: Header And Footer Areas Missing In Word Document

Mar 23,  · It’s so frustrating now not being able to see my header/footer when I open a Word doc. Doesnt matter if it’s a blank document or one with header/footers, I dont see them. 2) that I can still view them if I Tab to Insert then Edit Header and Footer, but that’s very annoying to have to do every time now. 3) under File -> Options -> Display -> my. 1. On the Insert tab, in the Header & Footer group, choose Header or Footer: 2. Choose the predefined header or footer from the gallery. Hover the mouse pointer over a header to see a description: Word inserts the header or footer, displays the header or footer area if the current view wasn’t displaying it, adds the Header & Footer Tools. Jun 09,  · Step 1: Place your pointer onto the line between two pages, and double-click. This will separate the pages and show the white space. That’s it. You can now get the missing header and footer area back in your Word document. Madhuparna. I find passion in writing Tech articles around Windows PC and softwares. Reader Interactions.

Not sure what recently happened but I dont like it Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. If you send me a copy of the document, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue. Stating that my margins are not set to 0 was the other item I forgot to list since NO they arent set to 0. My computer seems to have a mind of it’s own. My boss bought me a touchscreen laptop that I never use since I have dual monitors, I hate it.

The touchscreen is a real B in the business analytic world. This morning everything works, but tomorrow or even later today it’ll be back to not working. I have sizing issues with my Office programs. Sometimes my Word will open tiny and I wont even be able to see the margin marker on the ruler at the top of the page, and then I’ll go to Save As and the window that pops up will be huge.

Like I said this morning everything is working so I can’t create screen shots – of course Excel does a lot of what Word does, sometimes it’s tiny, others it’s huge. When it happens again I’ll respond to this post with screen shots as I’m sure it wont take 24 hours to go wrong on me again. You might try completely disabling touch mode.

It sounds like there might be some “clicking” occurring without your knowledge. I’ve encountered this occasionally. It’s maddening. To disable the touch screen, right-click your Start button and then click Device Manager. Under Human Interface Devices , locate your touch screen. Double-click it to open its properties and on the Driver tab, click Disable. Very odd, I already did those steps end of last year to disable the touch screen.

Now when I go into Device Manager they’re enabled again I even tried to Update the Driver, says I’m current. Let’s see how long this setting lasts this time Also, the Touch Mode option in the Office apps doesn’t disable touch. All that does is make the ribbon buttons a little large and add more space to optimize them for touch.

Yes thanks Beth, I was aware of that. I’ve already done a lot of little tricks with everything I could find, I just dont always remember to type everything I’ve done over the past 8 months dealing with it. Doesnt matter, nothing that I do works or lasts for long.

I had to disable Touch Mode in Outlook because it was making everything huge, since I’m sure with a touch screen computer Microsoft assumes you’re actually going to use it too and would need to make everything bigger in order for your finger to touch on it.

So day before I showed you pics of my computer looking normal and today, even with everything disabled, I’m back to thing being large acting like I want to use the touchscreen.

Look at my scroll bar on the side of my browser and the scroll bar while I’m trying to type this message Shouldn’t be that wide. I dont understand why my settings dont stay and appear to always reset on me. I wanted to post 2 pictures of the sizing problems I’m having since I knew it wouldnt take long for them to happen again. To note, I have dual 24″ wide screen monitors. In these pictures I’m showing you, they take up my entire screen!

Not normal. Again takes up the entire screen it opens so large due to the touch screen issue. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. This thread is locked. If you’re in Print Layout view and have “white space” displayed, I can’t think of any reason why you wouldn’t see the header and footer unless top and bottom margins were set to 0″.

Can you show us a screen shot? How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to Suzanne S. Barnhill’s post on March 20, Even if the margins are set to 0, the header content will “push” the body content down the page. Only if there is content present.

In reply to OfficeMgr’s post on March 21, While screen shots might be helpful, it sounds like the problems you’re experiencing are unlikely to be solvable at a distance. What you might try, of course, is starting Word in Office Safe Mode to see whether that makes a difference.

That’s just a troubleshooting technique, however, and not an operating mode. Beth Melton MVP. In reply to Beth Melton’s post on March 21, Let us know if that resolves the erratic behavior. It may not look that bad, but again it shouldnt be as big as my whole screen. This site in other languages x.
